Dispatch #55 Day 1151 Post-Ascendency of White Supremacy & Misogyny

Dispatch #55  January 4th 2020

Day 1151 Post-Ascendency of White Supremacy & Misogyny Day 1079 Post-Installation of White-Supremacist-Misogynist-Pussy-Grabbing-Self-Aggrandizing-Demagogic-Bully-Illegitimate-PeeeOTUS & his White-Nationalist-Fascistic-Christian-Supremacist-Quislings

Another year closes on the PeeeOTUS Regime. If we wondered at the end of 2018 ‘how much more damage can be done,’ then we have surely seen it during the past 12 months.

The human rights of women in the US have never been in greater danger. As always, vulnerable women and their families, poor and disproportionately women of color, are already bearing the devastating consequences. Our collective charge in 2020, especially for white women, must be to demand that Reproductive Justice become the core principle in public discourse.

REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE RECOGNIZES THE HUMAN RIGHT TO MAINTAIN PERSONAL BODILY AUTONOMY, HAVE CHILDREN, NOT HAVE CHILDREN, AND PARENT THE CHILDREN WE HAVE IN SAFE AND SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES.

More than 20 years ago, SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective established the reproductive justice movement with the purpose to combine reproductive rights and social justice. Sixteen women-of-color-led organizations representing four communities of color – Native American, Latin American, African American, and Asian American comprised the Collective.

We cannot continue to participate in the degradation of women’s human rights. Audre Lorde admonishes us “Silence is Consent!” We must tear down the narratives that cast women’s bodies/human rights as part of the so-called culture wars. We must condemn the narratives that place women’s human rights in competition with and in equivalence to religious beliefs. We must call out the white supremacist/white nationalist fears – aka replacement theory– that stoke the imperative to yoke women’s bodies. www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2019/08/27/how-white-nationalists-aligned-themselves-with-antiabortion-movement/

Black women in the US have courageously led the resistance to white supremacy and misogyny for centuries  Click on my 2020 reflections below that highlight hidden heroines of this legacy.

Lastly, two articles about women of color taking action right now.
